Ọ̀ṣun is the wife of Ọ̀rúnmìlà and the protector of children. She lives in the river of the same name in the sacred Ọ̀ṣun grove of Òṣogbo.
Ọ̀ṣun is the number seventeen Òrìṣà that came along with other Òrìṣà(s) from heaven. Ọ̀ṣun is capable of dishing out all kinds of fortunes irrespective of who you are or where you belong. Her kind gesture in terms of blessings is beyond human comprehension.
Once, when Ọ̀rúnmìlà was traveling abroad, Ọ̀ṣun had to help the people coming to consult Ifá. She had the àṣẹ to do so and was really helpful to them but at the same time she was lacking knowledge about Ifá divination system and felt somehow uneasy.
That is why, when Ọ̀rúnmìlà returned home, he gave her the Ẹẹ́rìndínlógún which is a simplified divination system with 16 cowries.
